HUBUNGAN STATUS GIZI DENGAN SIKLUS MENSTRUASI PADA MAHASISWI FAKULTAS KEDOKTERAN UNIVERSITAS MULAWARMAN

Abstract

Menstruation is a periodic and cyclic bleeding originating from the uterus accompanied by endrometrial desquamation. The complex interaction between the hormone system and the body’s organs, namely the hypothalamus, pituitary, ovaries and uterus results in menstrual bleeding. Several factors tha can affect the menstrual cycle include nutritional status, weight, physical activity, stress, diet, exposure to the environment and working conditions, the influence of smoking, reproductive diseases, endocrine disorders, bleeding disorders. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between nutritional status and the menstrual cycle of student from the Faculty of Medicine, Mulawarman University. This research is an observational analytic study using a cross sectional approach. The data obtained comes from primary data. Sampling technique with stratified random sampling method obtained as many as 87 respondents. The results of the Chi-Square statistical test obtained p value = 0.024, which means that there is a relationship between nutritional status and the menstrual cycle of students of the Faculty of Medicine, Mulawarman University.
