Abstract

Hyperbilirubinemia is a common clinical problem found in neonatal period and contribute on infant mortality in Indonesia. Based on the data obtained at RSUD Abdul Wahab Sjahranie Samarinda in 2020, there were at least 135 neonates in hyperbilirubinemia condition. Low Birth Weight (LBW) and type of delivery are ones of the risk factors for neonatal hyperbilirubinemia. Hyperbilirubinemia incidence and its complications can be prevented by early detection through the introduction of risk factors in the newborn. This study aims to determine the relationship between LBW and type of delivery with neonatal hyperbilirubinemia. This study design is an observational analytic with cross sectional method. This study used medical records data of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia patients on January-December 2020 at RSUD Abdul Wahab Sjahranie Samarinda. There are 84 samples used which met inclusion and exclusion criteria, taken by purposive sampling technique. The data is analyzed with Independent T-Test. The average total bilirubin level on LBW group and non-LBW group each 15.79 mg/dL and 15.52 mg/dL (p=0.773). The average total bilirubin level on normal delivery and abnormal delivery each are 16.33 mg/dL and 15.292 mg/dL (p=0.308). This study result shows that there is no correlation between LBW and type of delivery with neonatal hyperbilirubinemia.
