Abstract
Patients with Diabetes Mellitus type 2 are prone to complications if not treated well, and thus are required to undergo routine checkups and treatments in health facilities. Covid-19 pandemic causes changes in health services. This research is a qualitative research using in-depth interview method which aims to investigate the overview of health service in patients with Diabetes Mellitus type 2 during Covid-19 pandemic in Segiri Public Health Centre (Puskesmas – Pusat Kesehatan Masyarakat). The research showed that there were restriction and limitation on visits for patients with Diabetes Mellitus type 2 during Covid-19 pandemic; the medications for patients with Diabetes Mellitus type 2 were given in 1 month interval to reduce the visits to the public health centre. Sempaja Public health centre applied health protocols in forms of physical distancing and reducing the number of seats. Reducing the number of seats were counterproductive, as it resulted in a crowd of patients outside the waiting room. Patients with Diabetes Mellitus type 2 who were using insulin were referred to hospitals to receive insulin. During Covid-19 pandemic, the queues were also getting longer. Several health services did not have any differences between before and during the Covid-19 pandemic, including: health workers attitude, screening for detecting complications, physical examinations, and laboratory examinations.
