Stress can effect on decreasing short-term memory abilities. Short-term memory has an important role in everyday life as a process of understanding, learning, and reasoning. The purpose of this study was to determine the association between stress levels with short-term memory in students of Medical Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Mulawarman University Samarinda. Stress levels in this study were measured with Perceived Stress Scale with categories of stress levels is mild, moderate, and severe. Short-term memory in this study  have been measured with Scenery Picture Memory Test instrument. This study is an observational analytic with a cross sectional method. Sampling was done by stratified random sampling method. In this study, there were 103 respondents that included in research criteria. The results of this study indicate that the majority of students of the Medical Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Mulawarman University Samarinda have a moderate stress level (78.6%) and poor short-term memory (57.3%). In this study, it was proven that stress levels had a significant association with short-term memory. Respondents with moderate stress levels were shown to have poor short-term memory.
