Abstract

There has been a surge in Caesarean sections worldwide. A vaginal birth after a previous cesarean section is known as a VBAC. Success rate for VBAC is 60–75%. Success VBAC This can be affected by a number of variables, such as parity, birth spacing, and previous vaginal deliveries. This study sought to ascertain the correlation between birth spacing and successful vaginal deliveries at Abdoel Wahab Sjahranie Hospital. The design of this study was a case-control study with a retrospective methodology. All women giving birth by vaginal delivery and cesarean section who were documented in the obstetrics and gynecology polyclinic at Abdoel Wahab Sjahranie Hospital Samarinda's medical records for the years 2018 through 2022 made up the population used. Purposive sampling and age-matching used as sampling methods. Mothers who had vaginal birth had a history of a single cesarean section or had undergone multiple cesarean sections and whose records were kept in the obstetrics and gynecology polyclinic at RSUD Abdoel Wahab Sjahranie Samarinda met the inclusion criteria. Women who were primiparous and had incomplete medical records were classified in the exclusion criteria. The total number of samples obtained was 92, with 46 sample cases (failed VBAC) and 46 control samples (successVBAC). The study's findings yielded a p-value of delivery interval = 0.078 indicates that there is no relationship between birth spacing and successful VBAC
