GAMBARAN KARAKTERISTIK ANAK DOWN SYNDROME YANG MENGALAMI KARIES GIGI DI KOTA SAMARINDA
Abstract
Down syndrome children have slower development than normal children, one of which is the motor skills barrier which causes their growth to be impaired, so that children with Down syndrome are slower to learn and speak. This delay in development causes Down syndrome children to be unable to maintaining oral health. The most common are dental caries. This study was conducted to determine the characteristics of Down syndrome children who experience dental caries in Samarinda City. This research is a descriptive study using a cross-sectional research design which was conducted in March 2021. The data obtained were 18 research subjects using purposive sampling technique in the Community of Parents of Children with Down Syndrome in Samarinda City. This study shows that children with Down syndrome who have dental caries show the dominant age at the age of 37 years with an average age of 34.17 years. Dental caries in Down syndrome children shows very low def-t criteria with the dominant sex being male. Dental caries in Down syndrome children showed very low def-t criteria with the dominant age being 2 years. The classification of dental caries in Down syndrome children shows the dominant classification is class II.
